Robert Rauschenberg at Robert Ginty's Art Show Openning

The urban imagery of graffiti, found objects, signs, markings and patches has been the subject matter for Ginty since the mid-90's. His recent large photographs evoke an even more abstract and painterly response to the urban environment. Looking through the camera lens remains for Ginty a Duchampian act of pointing at found objects — it now also becomes a painterly gesture responsive to color, markings, gesture and surface nuance; in effect the camera is used to determine and frame the edges of painterly incident in order to bring about the painting itself.

Mr. Ginty is with The Saatchi Gallery, London.
